Shi Qing's Journey of Miraculous Grace
——From the Lowest Level in China to a Local Councillor in Canada
by Shi Qing, Shi Liu, and Lin En
My name is Shi Qing. I was born in the lowly level of rural areas in northern Jiangsu, China in the 1960s. I have experienced a legendary life that I find hard to believe. I am not saying this to boast, but the countless miraculous moments in the past few decades seem to have a profound meaning, which makes me feel that I cannot keep it to myself and should share it with more people. In my early years, I wandered around my homeland and was imprisoned. Later, I smuggled into Myanmar and went into exile in Thailand. Finally, I settled down in Canada. I have gone through studying, working as a business executive, running a business, and being elected as a local councillor. Looking back on my life, there are too many things that make me feel incredible. Although my academic performance was among the best in a key middle school, and I thought I was quite smart, my own plans often came to nothing. And every time I failed and fell into despair, it seemed that a strange power gave me invisible help, and the results were often far beyond my expectations and abilities.
There are countless experiences like this, and these many strange graces that I don’t deserve have forced me, a stubborn sinner, to have undoubted faith in Jesus Christ. I would like to use my humble pen to record all of this, recalling the process of the suffering on earth and the light of the sky through the clouds, as a humble testimony that the light of faith shines throughout the world.
